Vanished at the Showing: The Beverly Carter Story
On September 25, 2014, Beverly Carter was just doing what she did best: helping people find homes. The 50-year-old top-selling Arkansas realtor left her office with a smile, called her husband to say she’d be home with dinner, and drove out to show a house in the quiet community of Scott. But Beverly never came back.
When her husband Carl went to check on her that evening, he found her car in the driveway, her purse inside, and the front door to the empty property wide open. Beverly had vanished.
Who Was Beverly Carter?
Beverly was more than a realtor. She was a devoted wife of 35 years, a mother to three sons, and a grandmother who lit up her grandkids’ lives with love and laughter. Her friends and colleagues remember her as hardworking, humble, and quick to make anyone feel at ease.
The Disappearance and Search
Beverly’s disappearance triggered a massive search effort. Family, friends, and fellow realtors combed fields, taped up flyers, and begged for answers. Investigators soon discovered she had been lured to the house by someone using a fake identity. That trail led to Arron Lewis — and eventually, his wife Crystal Lowery.
A Twisted Plot Revealed
The truth that emerged was chilling. Arron and Crystal had targeted Beverly because she was a realtor working alone, believing she would be wealthy and easy prey. Their plan was to kidnap her for ransom. When the scheme quickly unraveled, they silenced Beverly in the most horrific way.
Justice and Legacy
Both Arron and Crystal were brought to justice — he was sentenced to life without parole, she to 30 years behind bars. But the impact of Beverly’s case didn’t end in the courtroom. Her story sparked national conversations about realtor safety, inspiring new practices in the industry. Her son, Carl Jr., founded the Beverly Carter Foundation to carry her legacy forward and to protect other agents from harm.
